Assignment #3: Game of Thrones

Based on the video clip, analyze the following components:

-Analyze the faces of the actors. What emotions do they convey?  How do they change?  Provide specific examples.

-Clearly this is meant to be an epic scene.  What elements make this scene big and powerful?  Think about cinematography (camera movement, space, color), sound (music, effects, dialogue intensity), and setting.

-What do you think is the intended audience response?  Do you think the goal is achieved?  How?

Assignment #2

First thing today:  visit this website: http://www.barklowclasses.com/film-analysis.html.  It is Ms. Barklow's site about film analysis.  She does a good job of introducing this topic.  Read through the entire site.

After view the opening scene to Lost, observe and comment on the following aspects of the scene:



-Sounds: How do the sounds impact the overall feeling of the scene?  What do they add to the scene?

-Character development: Even in this short amount of time, we learn a lot about a few characters. What are some ways the director is trying to build character? Describe specific examples that reveal character traits.

-What do you think was the general purpose or goal with this opening scene? What was the intended audience reaction? How do you know?
